An MOT test is an annual inspection required by law on all vehicles in the UK older than 3 years. (as well as some vehicles that are older than 1 year, see the Government website for more details). To ensure you stay safe and road legal ensure that you arrange a MOT test for your vehicle before it runs out each year.

This means, if you have a vehicle younger than 3 years old, you don’t need to take it for an MOT test until it gets to the third anniversary of it’s first registration date. (You can find this date on your V5C document or you can check it on the DVLA website.)
